| Cycle Messenger World Championships (CMWC 98)
Presented by Timbuk2 Designs and the DCBCA 1220 L St. NW 100-399 Washington, DC 20005 202.265.4247 www.dccourier.com Media Release: Washington, DC On April 22nd, Earth Day, the District of Columbia Bicycle Courier Association (DCBCA) and the Washington Area Bicyclists' Association (WABA) will be celebrating "Bike to Work Day." The winners of the "Washington's Most Bike Friendly Building" campaign will be showcased in the festivities at Freedom Plaza. "Washington's Most Bike Friendly Building" is a contest being held by DCBCA and WABA to reward those buildings which accommodate bicycle commuters and bicycle couriers. The contest is a proactive initiative introduced by the DCBCA highlighting those buildings that set the standard for excellence in bicycle policies, in effect doing their part to ease urban congestion. In cities across the US and Canada, "Bike to Work Day," has become a rallying event for those who commute to work in downtown congested cores. "Bike to Work Day" celebrates the highly effective bike commuter arteries like the various bike trails from outlying suburbs to metro Washington. On April 22nd, hundreds of bicycle commuters will gather at Freedom Plaza, 13th St and Pennsylvania Av NW in Washington DC to celebrate the bicycle as a viable and environmentally friendly transportation solution. In the efforts of limiting pollution, the growth of bicycle commuters in Washington and nationwide is an achievement that city planners, area bicyclist associations (like WABA) and the individual bicycle commuter can take pride in. Come to work by bike on "Bike to Work Day," April 22nd and join the fun at Freedom Plaza! Along with Timbuk2 Designs, the DCBCA will host the 6th Annual Cycle Messenger World Championships in Washington DC, September 4th - 7th 1998. We invite your curiosity
