[lbma] Rollapaluza II brief report results Rollapaluza II 23rd October 2004 - results and brief report (held at the Pleasure Unit, 359 Bethnal Green Road, E2 http://www.pleasureunitbar.com) My memories of this event were that it has very very hot, very sweaty and very very very loud. Thanks very much to Nick, the governor of the establishment who donated 5% of the night's bar receipts to the LBMA, and has been kind enough to offer the LBMA a welcome any night of the year we fancy. Isn't it nice to be wanted? The LBMA apologises to all those who found the door policy perplexing, especially those racers who went out to grab a bite or a gasp and found their reentry barred. This was mostly the fault of the event organization. The venue management has a responsibility not to allow safe limits to be exceeded and it was our responsibility to sort out a comprehensible pass-out system. We didn't get it sorted, please accept our apologies and our assurances that next time we will sort it out. I would also like to extend my personal apologies to the seeds. Once again, the system was not sufficiently prepared. However, next time we will have it sorted. Anyway, second time with the Catford CC rollers. This time Al & I decided to change the set up slightly, moving to fixed to give a bigger gear (52 X 15), reasoning that the rollers were so light that even fixed wheel virgins would not be at a disadvantage. We hadn't counted on all the fixie kids doing skip-stops and crashing the rollers. You dummies. So if you want to avoid quicker riders, you need to do a pretty quick qualifying time. Joe Fletcher had been seeded number 1, and is one of the quicker riders on the circuit. When Adam saw that he had been drawn against him, he wasn't very happy. As it turned out, Joe was the unhappier of the two. Quarterfinals Adam ' King of the Mullets' Gielnak, Cyclone Bt Joe Fletcher, Team Economic Energy Mikey, Metro Bt Crashmaster K, LBMA Bingo, Metro Bt Finn Robertson Jon Chang, Bicycle Messenger Express Bt Pretty Boy, AY Chang, former King of the Fixed World, was unable to hold the new challenge of Adam, and Mikey beat Bingo to become King of the Metro Muppets. A Muppet/Mullet final beckoned. Semifinal Adam ' King of the Mullets' Gielnak, Cyclone Bt Jon Chang, Bicycle Messenger Express Mikey, Metro Bt Bingo, Metro Catt had to leave, so Cate stepped in to give Crissi a little opposition.
