| Main Race
The main race will be run on courses laid out in Fairmount Park and designed to most effectively test the complete skills of the cycle messenger. There will be 8 checkpoints, and racers will be given a manifest to complete doing pickups and deliveries around the course, including multiple stops at some of the checkpoints. Doing well will require racers to use all of their cycling, navigational, and organizational skills. Fairmount Park can get pretty steep, so bring you climbing legs for sure. Racers will run qualifying heats on both Saturday and Sunday, and the best will face off in Monday's finals. All finalists will recieve a special edition Timbuk2 Finalists Mesenger Bag. Team Competition

| Sprints
Who can go the fastest over a short distance? (between 200 and 500 meters) These fast, exciting races are based less on messenger specific skills and focus instead on pure speed. Reigning Cycle Messenger Sprint World Champions: Karl Stransky, Basel Sputnik, Kopenhagen |
| Cargo
This competition pits the real work-horses of the messenger world against one another on machines designed to transport heavier loads. In the past, cargo messengers have used specially modified bikes that include 4-wheel flat beds and 8 foot long front loading recumbents. These messengers can carry more in one load than most messengers do in a week. Reigning Cycle Messenger Cargo World Champions: Andreas Kleinhans, Mainz Reba Wrench, Toronto |
| Bunny-hop
Otherwise known as the reverse limbo. Competitors literally hop their bikes over a bar set up like a high jump. The current messenger world record stands at 104 centimeters. Reigning Cycle Messenger Bunny Hop World Champion: Michel Tobler, Bern ![]() |
| Trials
Traditionally done in a party setting, and this year will be no exception. Hundreds of messengers crowd around an area laiden with ramps, platforms, stairs, and of course, cars. Competitors jump and do tricks all over the obstacles in ways most of us can only do in video games. Judges will award scores based on degrees of difficulty and cleanliness of technique. Reigning Cycle Messenger Trials World Champion: Andre Wichote, Frankfurt |
| Fixed Gear Only Events
For the fearless and gearless. The skid competition is a crowd favorite. Competitors ride as fast as they can, and then suddenly lock up their rear wheel and skid as far as they can. The track stand, aka the circle of death, has all of the riders in a large circle balancing their bikes in place. Every so often, competitors will have to remove a limb from the bike: first one hand then the other, then a foot. The last one still on their bike wins. Reigning Cycle Messenger Fixerd Gear World Champions: King of Fixed: John Chang, London Queen of Fixed: Rebecca Reilly, New York Skid: Spencer Leboeuf, Washington DC Rebecca Reilly, New York Stand: Brad Emery, Minneapolis Rebecca Reilly, New York |
