Do you live in Philadelphia?
We need to put up roughly 450 foreign and out of town messengers in our homes during the race week. If you can take even one person in please contact Alison Cross

Couch tour (free housing):
You must Register as a racer or a guest to be assigned to a couch.
We will put as many messengers on couches as possible.
The earlier you register, the more likely you will be accepted for couch tour.

The deal with Best Western is $89 per room per night for the nights of
September 1-4, 2000. There can be up to 4 people in each room, which works
out to $22.50 a person.

The group rate is under Cycle Messenger World Championship. Not CMWC or
CMWC2K or any other variation there of.

there is a pool there. You can not register for a room at the website, you
have to call them. You can reserve a room with a credit card.

1. Start out going southeast on ISLAND AVE by turning right. 0.7
2. Turn LEFT onto PA-291 E. 0.0
3. PA-291 E becomes PA-291 E/PENROSE AVE. 0.8
4. Stay straight to go onto GEORGE C PLATT MEMORIAL BRIDGE/PA-291. 1.4,
(very scary bridge for biking)

South East Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA)
Take regional line #1 (airport) to 30th street station
Once there, take the Market St/ Frankford Line "The El" west to 40th St.
stop (it is like 2 stops from 30th St. station)
From the subway, head south on 40th St. to Locust St. (it will be like five
blocks)
Make a right on Locust St. on up to 4040 Locust St. on the left hand side
of the street.

Biking to 4040 locust St via SEPTA
Take SEPTA Regional Line #1(on non peak times can you bring your bike on
the train) to University City Station.
Once you get off the train go up the stairs to Spruce St. and head west (go
towards the university of Pennsylvania)
Go up to 41st street and make a right then make a right on Locust St.

Once you get off the plane and go to baggage claim. Go to the ground
floor and use the airport shuttle phone. Just dial 27 and say that you are
with Cycle Messenger World Championship. You will receive a dollar off the
shuttle ride (price with discount: $7). This price is for anywhere in
Philadelphia.

Public transportation to race course (if you have a bike)
Take SEPTA Regional line #1 to 30th Street Station.
Once there you have to ride your bike on market street west
Make a right onto 38th St.
go up to spring garden St. and make a right.
Once you are near the art museum you will have to make a left on to West
River Drive. (this might be hard to explain since West River Drive is under
the bridge they will be riding on)
Take West River Drive. (there is a bike path on the sidewalk you can use or
use the bike lane.)
You will take that for about three or so miles.
Once you get to a light (sweet burier St.) make a left.
Then you will make a right at the stop sign.
You will ride this road up to the racecourse that is on your right hand
side about one mile from the stop sign.

4040 Locust from Amtrak 30th St. Station
Head west up Market St. to 40th St. and make a left, roughly 5 blocks to
Locust and turn right.

Race Course from Amtrak
Head west up Market to 38th St. turn right, roughly 4 blocks up to Spring
Garden St., turn right and follow for a ½ mile to the Philadelphia Art
Museum. Once you are near the art museum you will have to make a left on to
West River Drive. (this might be hard to explain since West River Drive is
under the bridge they will be riding on)
Take West River Drive. (there is a bike path on the sidewalk you can use or
use the bike lane.)
You will take that for about three or so miles.

Then you will make a right at the stop sign.

4040 Locust from the Greyhound Station
Head one block south to Market St., turn right and follow Market around
City Hall which turns into JFK Blvd., follow straight on up to 20th St. and
turn left, go one block and turn right back onto Market and follow up to
40th St., make a left, roughly 5 blocks to Locust and turn right.

How to get to the Best Western Center City Hotel
501 North 22nd Street
Philadelphia

FROM THE NORTH: Take New Jersey Turnpike south to Exit 4, following signs for "Philadelphia/Camden." Then follow signs for "38 West/Phila/Ben Franklin Bridge." Once on 38 West look for signs for "30 West/Ben Franklin Bridge." Cross over the bridge (stay in the left lane) follow the signs for 676 West. Take 676 West to the second exit (marked Ben Franklin Parkway) once off the exit you will bear right onto 22nd Street. Follow 22nd Street over the Parkway and the hotel will be on your right.

I-95 South to Philadelphia, take exit "Central Phila/676 West." Follow 676 West approximately 1 1/2 miles to the Ben Franklin Parkway exit. When you reach the end of the exit bear right. You will be on 22nd Street. Follow 22nd Street over the Parkway and the hotel will be on the right.

FROM THE SOUTH: I-95 North to Philadelphia (stay in your far left lane), take the first exit on your left (approximately 5 minutes past Philadelphia International Airport) following signs for "Central Philadelphia/676/30 West." Follow 676 approximately 1 1/2 miles to the second exit--"Museum District/Ben Franklin Parkway." Bear right at the top of the exit onto 22nd Street. Follow 22nd Street over the Parkway and the hotel will be on the right.

As you bear to get onto 676 East you will see the first exit which will be 23rd Street ("Museum District/Ben Franklin Parkway")This will be a very quick exit to your right, so be prepared to get over to your right as you will have to exit immediately onto 23rd Street. Proceed to a traffic light and turn onto 22nd Street. Follow 22nd Street 1/4 mile and the hotel will be on the right.
